here's what happened tonight

Summer is all about fun, right?  See, I thought it would be fun to have a pancake supper kinda thingy in Route 56 tonight.  Preteens love it when I bring food.

So, I'm thinking if we have two griddles going at the same time, we oughta be able to pop them out pretty quickly.  BB let me borrow her griddle cause I only have one.  I also got the VISA from BB and went to the grocery.  I bought butter & syrup, chocolate chips, strawberries, blueberries and whipped topping.  And of course, milk, eggs and a box of Bisquick.  And a big ole jug of Sunny D.  Junebug doesn't drink Sunny D, but the kids do.  Junebug drinks milk with her pancakes.  Of course.

Preteens have their own spot at our church.  It's Portable F.  Route 56.  I refer to it as "my portable."  Seriously.  Anyway, I went to my portable with all my stuff and arranged it nicely on the table.  It was all set up in a row kinda thingy where it would be easy for the kids to design their pancake supper.  I got an extension cord out of the resource room and plugged both the griddles into it...cause the wall plug was just a bit too far away from the table.  I, then, proceeded to turn the griddles on.  They both came on for just a second and then went right back off again.  Along with the rest of the power in half my portable.

I assumed I'd thrown a breaker (or whatever the right words to describe that would be) and immediately decide to call Mrs. Linda.  She's in charge of all the stuff like that.  After she explained to me that you can't plug two griddles into one outlet in my portable (who knew?), she told me where the breaker box is so that I could start flipping.  I flipped for awhile before Mrs. Linda got there.  The lights came on...and went back off again.  And the air conditioner went off.

Mrs. Linda got there and looked around.  She finally got the lights to come back on and stay on.  No such luck with the air conditioner.  Earl came over and looked at it, too.  He couldn't do anything.  I think there may be something wrong with it.  And I'm pretty sure it's not my fault.  Can't be my fault.  All I was doing was trying to make pancakes in my own portable for my own preteens.  Also, I'm hoping they have it fixed before Sunday morning.

Anyway, we put one griddle on the other side of the room.  On it's very own table.  Amanda flipped those pancakes while I flipped the ones on the original table.  The kids used nearly a whole bottle of syrup and drank almost every drop of that Sunny D.  All the strawberries and blueberries are gone, too.  I ate two pancakes with butter and syrup and half a chocolate chip one.  I also ate a whole bunch of strawberries and blueberries.  They are best when you eat a couple of blueberries and a half a strawberry at the same time.

I was telling this story to my friend and she said she was just glad I didn't start a fire.  That woulda been really bad.  So, I guess all's well that ends well.  I just really hope they get that air conditioner fixed before Sunday morning.  Otherwise, I may have to trade portables with BB.
